I believe culture plays an important role in shaping one’s identity. My global education experience makes me always open to different voices and prepares me to think as a global citizen.
The University of Texas at Austin
Originally from China, I bravely came to the U.S. alone and started my college education at UT. Joys as well as tears. Thanks to UT’s general education curriculum, I discovered my passion for people and change, internally transferred to Mccombs School of Business with a 4.0 GPA after a year’s exploration, and declared marketing as my major. What’s more, huge language barriers and cultural differences made me minor in psychology and actively promote mental health to international students.
It is a faculty-lead BBA Finance Maymester program and I spent a month in Athens, Greece with my Mccombs classmates. I studied Finance, explored Greek culture, made two fantastic American friends, and ate countless yummy gyros.
August 2016 – May 2017
Influenced by Japanese dramas and animes, I applied the 6-week Summer Japanese language Immersion Program in Tokyo by myself and flew to Japan with zero Japanese language skills. 東京はとても忙しい。楽しかった。Clean, convenient, fast, and well-organized. A good country for traveling.
Past – 2015
Born and raised in this city a perfect combination of ancient and modern beauty. I enjoy convenience brought by the fast economic and technological development but also enjoy culture influenced by rich history and unique art. The city helps me develop an innovative and future-oriented perspective of thinking but a leisure and comfortable style of living.
